1. For my first song I would choose Masks by The Brooks & The Bluff. This song and this band means something to me because of how I found out about them. Me and my dad went to Kentucky for a volleyball tournament and in an attempt to clear my head from a bad playing day we started to walk around and we found an outside venue with live music and outside seating at a burger restaurant. We sat there for hours just listening to many different bands and finally we heard this band and we were both immediately hooked. They are still today one of my favorite bands and always take me back to that fun trip I had with him.
2. Through out my senior year, I constantly found myself listening to a certain band called Peach Pit. During quarantine they came out with a new album and I then realized that Peach Pit was all I listened to. While all of the songs on the album You and Your Friends are amazing, I think my favorite song would have to be Black Licorice. Throughout the song you can hear bits of harmonization which really brings this song to a whole new level.
3. I think one genre of music that does not really speak to me would have to be rap. I can enjoy listening to some songs but I never play it when I get the chance to play music. It can be fun with friends, being that it does pump you up but that is about the only time that I will listen to it. This particular song The Box is one that really doesn't sit with me.
Masks by The Brooks & The Bluff has such a lovely tune with the guitar as well as the harmony. I am able to tell that a lot of passion was put into this song. Peach Pit - Black Licorice makes me nostalgic for something that is waiting to happen. It interesting to see how they made it emotional but serious at the same time. In the music video, you are able to see how they try to keep a straight face. These are for sure going into my songs list.
I can totally relate to the playing bad and then listening to music to calm down. It really just helps you get out of your head. And when you're warming up dancing around and singing, that pumps you up more than anything, its just so much fun :)
